the rhetoric and reality of quagmire

some politicians are calling iraq a quagmire. even some of the commericial media is inserting the term "exit strategy" - getting us to believe that the issue is being considered. more empty rhetoric ranging from:

at least two more years of occupation (even though the iraqi people don't want us there, the iraqi candidate backed by the u.s. will not argue with the boss) - the press will repeat the bush line "they want us there for now" until enough people believe it - until finally it becomes the operating reality manufactured for public consent.

to bring the troops home now based on the perception that iraq had their elections now we can bring our troops home - whatever it takes get to get them out - get them there hell out of harms way now.

meanwhile the reality is that we are preparing to provoke iran into providing us with another opportunity to launch yet another preemptive strike based on deceit and deception - with or without israel's involvement - (note to the reader: dismiss any anti-semitic suggestions - not all israelies approve of their governments occupation and degradation of palestians)

yet i never cease to be terminally perplexed by the failure of the media to remind the public about the difference between rhetoric and reality - iraq was based on a lie. the social security crisis is in the process of being another fabrication given credance by a complicit press -

the rhetoric of wmd and imminent threat has been exposed by the reality of a violation of international law and crimes against humanity - and the rhetoric of social security being broke by 2042 will be replaced by the poverty that will spread without the safety net of social security. the former costs us a billion dollars a week to wage an unjust war and the later is based on the premise that we are broke.

with the state of the union speech soon to be given by president of the united states who is the same president who deceived the public and the congress, with or without intent, to become the commander-in-chief who put american men and women in harms way for a cause that was not just.

my gut tells me that this man will mention iran in his coming out speech. i have no faith that the mainstream media will say "hey, wait a minute - isn't this the same guy who sold us on iraq and the same guy who is trying to sell us on social security - shouldn't his credibility be questioned"?

in yova's world the just solution to the existing complexities of extracating ourselves from iraq would be for:

a - the u.s. to pull out all its troops after they clean up the mess they made to be replaced by primarily predominantly moslem nations to provide security,

b - iraq is partitioned in kurd, sunni, shia geopolitical areas, all three share in the wealth from the oil revenues

c - the cost of reparations be primarily born by those in this administration, their financial backers, and all other complicit parties including the coalition of the willing but not those from the coalition of the coerced.

d - those countries that provide the security also provide the companies to rebuild that which we destroyed.

e - a war crimes tribunal be established to determine responsibility and culpability for this violation of international law based on the model of forgiveness tribunals in south africa.

in yova's world - the reality is that the only way such a solution could be given any life would be for our troops to come home and fight for the freedom and democracy here at home that disappears on a daily basis with colored coded threat levels issued by the masters of fabrication and spin.
