The mantra is repeated in the breath until mind and body are one: “The more things change the more than stay the same”. A day after my post about the recent Sago mine tragedy another mine disaster occurs underground in the mountain state.

The tragedy this time occurred at the Alma mine where two men remain trapped in darkness perhaps never to be seen alive again given the recent history of praying for miracles instead of expressing outrage at another union free mine that had more than 90 citations in 2005. The most recent were issued Dec. 20, when the mine was hit with seven violations of its ventilation plan and its efforts to control coal dust and other combustible materials.
