Benazir Bhutto's Assassination Redux

I haven’t posted anything in quite a while because sitting in front of the computer was a trigger for my addiction to the legalized drug of nicotine. Yep I really believe the bullshit about this government’s concern for my health by criminalizing marijuana and other drugs but looking the other way when the tobacco industry makes a boat load of money by making a product more addictive and more harmful to the individual’s health while the government taxes the individual for the privilege of being addicted.

After 3 months without a cigarette I’ve finally decided to test the trigger of sitting before the computer with what I intend to be the first of several posts that reflect my views of the world in which I live and the insane society in which I try to maintain my sanity until my time is up.

Headline - Benazir Bhutto Assassinated in Pakistan –

I’m not blaming America for another foreign affairs foul up but the Bush Administration was heavily involved in Bhutto’s return to Pakistan. Thanks to Condi – another great foreign affairs blunder for the Bush Administration. Bhutto was after all against terrorism, we are in a “war on terrorism” and perhaps if she would be elected she could do more than Musharraf – “do more” being defined as being more easily manipulated by the U.S. given her predilection for corruption than Musharraf who already wasted 10 billion U.S. tax payer dollars in our “war against terrorism” with little to show for it.

Besides a future puppet of the U.S. just might ask for our military help chasing the ever elusive Bin Laden would insure the increasing profit of the military industrial complex including the privitized military companies like Blackwater for decades to come. Of course catching Bin Laden would be out of the question because he serves a better purpose by being alive. I secretly suspect that Bin Laden is either already dead or the dark forces running and ruining this republic are financing his existence as the devil to America’s god in some safe haven. In essence Bin Laden has more propaganda value being alive by providing that fear factor that demagogues feed to their followers.

The talking heads even came back from vacation leaving the puff pieces like Olberman’s “Best Oddball in 07” and “Special Comments” to do non-stop coverage interviews with the usual suspects those so-called experts with the same degree of accuracy as your local weatherman. What does this mean for the region? What will happen to Pakistan’s nuclear weapons? Will there be chaos in Pakistan? Will the elections still be held? How will this affect our “war on terrorism”?

More importantly what about the impact on presidential politics? Chris Matthews MSNBC’s Rudy Giuliani’s sycophant and prime media cheerleader for Rudy! Rudy! got that assignment by playing Giuliani’s comments as if Rudy had some sort of foreign affairs experience that compensated for his political failures elsewhere. While the reality is that Rudy G has no such experience so Chris is now creating the reality that Rudy G’s opinion matters.

Chris ignored Ron Paul who said we have no business in Pakistan. But I suspect Matthews has this strong attachment to authority since being catholic predisposes one to fall on his or her knees before a strong, all powerful mythical god created of course for those who prefer to accept authority rather than question it by those who need it to secure, keep, and use the political power of fear for their own ends. Personally I don't know what God is but I certainly know what God is not.

The media now says that the housing crisis, the economy, health insurance and immigration now all take second place to terrorism as the number one issue in presidential politics. What pure unadulterated bullshit the perpetuation of this endless war on terrorism has become. We had a “war on godless communism”, a “war on poverty”, a “war on drugs” and now a “war on terrorism”. Since truth is the first victim of war after all these fabricated wars truth has become irrelevant.

Don’t know about you but if I’m in danger of losing my house, my job, my family, or my health declines as it will with age and I have no health insurance, etc I’m more concerned about that than a politician favored by the U.S. being sent to her assassination in Pakistan. So they have nuclear weapons so what? So do we and we’re the only nation that ever used them. Why should I care what lunatic fringe has their finger on the button because the lunatic fringe in this country has their finger on our nuclear weapons.

Not to be forgotten is that if George Bush can remain on vacation, which none of the pundits have bothered to mention, but why is the punditocracy pushing this assassination story down our collective throats if not to make us afraid, very afraid of “radical Islamo fascists” – another category created by god fearing Christians to continue the century old holy wars between monotheistic morons to once and for all prove which god is stronger, which delusion will prevail to pollute men's minds.

But George did bring out the usual rhetoric of “cowardly acts” and “murderous extremists” to describe the perpetrator who of course must be “brought to justice”. No one in our free and so-called liberal press dared ask what about the cowardly acts of those dropping bombs from the skies over a defenseless Iraq ordered by our own murderous extremist who still hasn’t been brought to justice for war crimes committed against Iraq?

Epilogue – Two days later turns out the Pakistani government claims Bhutto wasn’t assassinated by a lone gunman’s bullet to the throat or the chest. Nor did she die in the explosion. Turns out America’s partner in the “war on terrorism” now alleges that Bhutto died from bumping her head against some metal handle in her vehicle for which al Qaeda is to blame even though they didn't accept responsibility which they would have done if it were only true.

In this country we called such a spin meister “turd blossom” – what do they call him in Pakistan? Funny but the media called Karl Rove (aka turd blossom)"Bush's brain" - I suppose with a nickname like "turd blossom" one can make a case for referring to George W Bush as "Mr. Shit for Brains" certainly the stench of his administrations domestic and foreign policy would give credence to such a scatological claim.

Meanwhile – on the same day, back in the U.S. and A

In San Francisco police are investigating whether or not three men taunted a Siberian tiger thus prompting her to escape her manmade prison and make the humans pay. Ya think? Does anyone really believe the Siberian tiger just spotted some humans and decided they’d make a good meal. I suspect the humans taunted the tiger – in which case it’s unfortunate that 2 survived and the tiger was killed. Apparently the two human survivors aren’t cooperating with the investigators - a good indication they antagonized the tiger – seems like the survivors were just as responsible or more so than the Siberian tiger for the death of the other human. It would be nice if we really acted as if we were God’s creatures one and all – unfortunately humans actually believe they were created in the image of the myth which humans created to fill the void of their own ignorance about existence.

And in Carnation, Washington – 6 people representing 3 generations of one family were found murdered. Apparently there was a dispute over money. Hey this is America where good Americans have a right to bear arms and money in a Christian nation is worth killing for after all “in god we trust”. No doubt the Second Amendment crowd of clowns will pull out the usual “guns don’t kill people, people kill people” – actually, people with guns kill people.

My holiday wish is for there to be a serious debate about the Second Amendment during which the first myth to be dispelled would be the one linking the right of the individual to bear arms and preserving freedom against tyranny because in case we’ve missed it democracy was overthrown in the elections of 2000 without a shot ever being fired and ever since then the police state has been increasing its power without any complaint from the gun nut crowd.
