Ranting About the Reality of Change

After each reason for war with Iraq was exposed as being based on faulty intelligence, cherry picked intelligence or outright lie, why does the so-called liberal media exercise its freedom of the press today by continuing to regurgitate the party line of a pathological liar lacking any regard for justice, morality and legal right? A president with a proven penchant for preemptive strikes on oil rich third world countries and a press that doesn’t question or doesn’t challenge the Rambo rhetoric of a coward that finds it easy to say “bring em on” because he won’t be there if they do show up?

During George Bush’s recent out of town photo op trip to get some face time with our Arab allies before he leaves office the press exposed the madness of our time in which reality is rewritten, denied or ignored by those in power who have no regard for truth and no plans to endure the unpleasant consequences of their dementia.

Unsubstantiated statements like “…Iran threatens the security of the world… destabilizes the entire region…defies the United Nations…”beg the question: “wasn’t it the United States that ignored the United Nations and destabilized the entire region and threatened the security of the world when it unilaterally invaded Iraq? And the arrogance to claim that Iran “…seeks to intimidate its neighbors with alarming rhetoric” ignores our own self righteous rhetoric as well as our own complicity in the crimes against peace.

Yet near the end of the current abbreviated thousand year Reich the deceit is no longer clever enough to conceal our participation in fabricating a crisis to satiate the blood lust of empire. Perhaps if the screen writers had ended their strike sooner someone would have imagined something more credible for the pentagon to present as an international threat to the homeland than unarmed Iranian speed boats allegedly attacking armed U.S. destroyers in the Strait of Hormuz based on audio tapes proven to be a hoax preventing another act of aggression from being committed based on a series of lies.

The war criminal from Crawford claims that "There is no doubt in my mind when history was written, the final page will say: Victory was achieved by the United States of America for the good of the world," This from a man who didn’t doubt the existence of WMD in Iraq, a delusional man at that who believed his “shock and awe” would pay for itself and be rewarded with flowers and wild celebrations of liberation.

That the press even prints such nonsense is a disturbing tribute to Josef Goebbels, the prince of propaganda during the previous Reich. The press doesn’t dare ask this Furher of the 21st century to define “victory” without fear of recrimination in an open society rapidly closing in order to protect the “national security” of the homeland.

The surge is only working if George W Bush and his followers say it is working while the reality in Iraq is that sectarian violence is an every day occurrence as is political instability. The mainstream corporate media can’t even show pictures of those who allegedly died over there so we wouldn’t have to fight over here yet they repeat the lie that needs to be repeated if it’s to be believed – the surge is working, the surge is working.

Did you ever hear such nonsense without somebody saying “what’s he smoking”? Well the reality is they’re not something anything because they’re too influenced by greed and corrupted by power. Had they been something smoking anything of value their minds wouldn’t have been that polluted to produce such disturbing aggressive behavior.

The press doesn’t even challenge the fool whose advisors were able to convince him that the people of a sovereign nation would reward us with flowers for an invasion that would destroy their political, social, and economic fabric and reduce their infrastructure to rubble for decades to come and beyond?

Veterans organizations who feed on war stories are told that the War on Terrorism is similar to World War II to stoke the embers of a patriotism belonging to the greatest generation yet the essential similarities of fact are ignored i.e. Germany invaded Poland based on a lie, the U.S. invaded Iraq based on a lie and both acts of war waged against sovereign nations constituted a crime against peace conducted by countries claiming a right to extend their rule by whatever means necessary.

Yesterday’s fascist ideology is indistinguishable from today’s neo-conservatism where crimes against humanity such as water boarding are given the more acceptable and less chilling albeit Orwellian name of “intense investigation techniques and “torture” only exists in the mind of the man who thinks he’s drowning.

The fourth estate seems to be participating in some sort of government sponsored psyops where if history can’t be rewritten it can at least be ignored compelling me to stay in touch with reality by remembering that there were no WMD – Hans Blix documented that, there was no nuclear capacity – Joseph Wilson exposed that and Valerie Plame paid the price for it, there was no imminent threat to U.S. security, there was no alliance with al Qaeda and there was no connection to 9/11 so found the 9/11 Commission.

The liberal press isn’t the least bit incredulously stunned that the man who said that the Iraq War “would pay for itself” was appointed to the role of President of the World Bank. Meanwhile the sheep trying to eek out a living in the homeland pastures have now claimed that the economy is just as if not more important an issue as the Iraq War yet the press seems totally incapable of connecting the dots between the two which are inextricably woven for it seems entirely probable that the 2 billion dollars plus which we are spending each week to wage an illegal war in Iraq would be better spent in an effort to benefit our economy.

Indeed I just heard today that the state of California is expecting a 13 billion dollar deficit in 2008 - I did the math and concluded that instead of financing the war in Iraq for 6 weeks the citizens of California would have a surplus and not a deficit as would the non-U.S. citizens. In fact how many weeks would it take to bail out the economy and rebuild the infrastructure of all 50 states while providing their populations with universal health care?

A democracy technically can only exist when among other characteristics those of majority rule and rule of law are present. When some men are above the law the will of the majority is ignored and while you can still claim it to be a democracy in which we live the reality is that it is still tyranny by any other name when you exercise your freedom of speech to express that reality and wind up on a list.

The recent poll data that suggests more than two thirds of the country think the war with Iraq is wrong and more than two thirds of the country are worried about the economy contains serious implications for the future of the Republic because in today’s America the executive branch of government ignores the public good much like it ignores the rule of law, the legislative branch of government is bought and paid for by corporate America to be successfully out of touch with the common man whom he or she represents and the judicial branch of government consisting of strict constructionists’ appointed for life by those in power legitimizes the erosion of the Constitution by those who can afford to claim executive privilege in order to protect the status quo and those who profit from it.

In the final analysis it won’t matter who we elect or who gets selected to be the figure head of this Republic for unless we change that which needs to be changed and changed now the way forward will lead us over the edge and into the abyss.
