Questions for Gov Bush
I haven’t posted anything in a month. How could I describe the continued madness of men that occurred the last 30 days? In a world where might makes right when death and destruction occurs in wars waged where man takes another’s man, woman, or child’s life based on deceit and deception and yet no one accepts responsibility and no one is held accountable.
This is the world in which I exist where scientific reason is subjected to ridicule and derision by those who profit at the expense of the many and “the many” in the heartland of the American Empire prefer to be entertained rather than contemplate an independent thought that doesn’t die of loneliness.
In my first post in over a month while trying to stay sane in an insane society I found the following quote from “the war president” which puts all that occurred during the last 30 days in our “war on terror”: “I keep reminding the American people that the stakes are worth it,” Bush said. “It is worth it to help Iraq succeed. It is worth it to have a democracy in the Middle East. It is worth it to show other reformers and people who want to live in a free society what is possible.”
Who asked Governor Bush just “what are the stakes” and “how were they worth it” (yes Governor is the proper title since he was never “elected” by the people his proper title remains Governor Bush not to be confused with his brother Jeb who is the “Governor” of Florida one executed more than the other but the other disenfranchised more voters than any other governor)?
Who will ask the commander-in-chief to define “success” in Iraq? Who will ask the leader of the free world what “democracy” means? Who will fact check to see if we have “democracy” at home before we export it abroad? And who will dare declare that “it is worth it to show other reformers “ is at best a veiled threat to any nation which does not accept the terms and conditions of existence proscribed by an empire that constitutes five percent of the worlds population but consumes over fifty percent of dwindling resources, a reality imposed by any means necessary subtle or coercive?
And who in the mainstream media will expose the hypocrisy of a nation which holds out hope to those who want to live in a free society abroad while reducing the liberty of those who want to live in a free society here at home?
Until someone asks those questions, until someone is no longer satisfied by spin, until someone is no longer amused by photo ops, until someone demands the truth there is hope but not for those of us living among the many who can’t handle the truth of an empire staying the course in a state of decline.
