"I am Woman - Hear Me Roar"

After four decades of scandal from Watergate, to Iran Contragate, to Plamegate, after four decades of enemies lists, after four decades of rule by fear, intimidation and the steady erosion of constitutional liberties, after four decades of economic policies from Nixon impounding congressionally approved funds for domestic programs, to the trillion dollar debt created by Reagan’s tax cuts and large defense build ups, to the S & L Scandal under Bush I bailed out by the tax payers, Enron under Bush II, and more tax cuts for the wealthy and more money for defense under Bush II that tripled Reagan’s trillion dollar debt to be paid by generations of the working poor, and after four decades of war crimes in Vietnam, to violations of international law in Nicaragua, to war crimes in Iraq, after four decades of Republican scandal, corruption and crime, after 40 years of being dominated by Republican Conservative ideology which at times has been indistinguishable from the fascism of the 1930s in Italy and Germany the 2008 election presents the opportunity to end our long national nightmare of a divided America.

Of the final two mainstream candidates it has become obvious one will be that loveable war mongering maverick John McCain straight talking about perpetual war and when he isn’t talking “truth” that he doesn’t understand economics but he’ll continue the same Bush tax cuts the madman John McCain will be singing bomb, bomb, bomb – bomb, bomb Iran a la the Beach Boys “Barbara Ann” to an audience largely comprised of those who are opposed to the current war that they’re paying for, a war that they now know their children will be paying for and a war even their children’s children will be paying for assuming they haven’t paid the ultimate price for our other failures.

The apparent opposition leader would be Hillary Clinton whose vision of America was revealed from the beginning in her “I’m in it to win it” announcement. There was no description of her vision of America but there was a sadly shameless display of someone whose ego desired to become the first woman President in our history. In essence, Hillary was saying “it’s all about me”.

The tiger beneath the silk skinned glove that pursues the power behind a snappy salute as commander-in-chief to a military that protects and defends the status quo while the legal protections of a free people contained in the Constitution are ignored or violated. The nation where those who have the least to lose will still be required to sacrifice the most to protect those who have most to lose in a Clinton Administration.

Senator Clinton said she believed George Bush didn’t intend to invade Iraq, then blamed him for the failure of Iraq, but lacked the courage to accept responsibility for her actions and worse lacked the courage to this day to hold him accountable for the 935 fabrications that led to our preemptive crime against peace in Iraq and now she has the unmitigated gall to imply I am woman hear me roar.

The baby booming political clock of those who support Hillary Clinton merely because she shares the same sexual characteristics is ticking in a time and place that can no longer afford the ravages of men or women waging war against each other or their environment. Hillary Clinton represents precisely that politics of division which demands to be changed in order for our Republic to overcome the assault on liberty these past 40 years.
The straight talk is that Hillary Clinton supported a crime against peace in Iraq the same crime against peace in Iraq as John McCain supported, Hillary Clinton is someone who supported the Kyle-Lieberman Amendment to justify a crime against peace in the future against Iran if and when necessary - the same Amendment supported by John McCain. In essence the two represent politics as usual and Senator Obama at least recognizes that is what must be changed.

You can say all things conditioned are impermanent or you can say all things fall apart – however one explains it the fact of the matter is that the center cannot be held together by John McCain while straight talking out of both sides of his mouth or singing out of tune nor can it be held together by Hillary Clinton tearing up while claiming to be an agent of change when she is a large part of the problem that needs to be changed.

This is indeed an historical moment for the Democratic Party one in which their presidential candidate will either be a woman or a black man yet how ironic that the woman will do anything to become president including but not limited to having her philandering husband and “America’s first black president” as well as her surrogates play the race card then deny her role in this clever scheme all the while pandering to women to support her merely because she is a woman.

Will women put their country before their gender and wait for someone who shares their sexual identity that can accept responsibility for her actions rather than blame a man? Will Hillary Clinton put her country before her political ambitions and step aside to support Barak Obama so that the Democrats will have a chance to regain the Presidency and change politics as usual or when the next President is inaugurated will we be listening to the Beach Boys music and the lyrics of a madman from the lunatic fringe of the grand old patty singing about invading another country in the Middle-East and citing the Kyle-Lieberman Amendment which Senator Clinton supported? How women exercise their right to choose and what determines their choice will ultimately determine the future of this Republic.

At the end of the day if Hillary Clinton is the Democratic nominee for President, the hope and optimism of Senator Obama’s candidacy calling for change to 40 years of politics as usual will dissolve in disappointment for those who believed but for a brief moment they could be a part of that change and the enthusiasm his candidacy generated among those on the political spectrum who shared his vision of one nation will disappear in disenfranchisement rather than be transferred to Hillary Clinton in her race against John McCain. The result of Clinton vs McCain will be politics as usual, things will continue to fall apart for another four years and eventually the center will no longer hold.
