BOYS WILL BE BOYS

Last November an 8 year old Arizona boy used a single-action .22 caliber hunting rifle to kill his 29 year old father for spanking him the night before over being in trouble at school. The boy then calmly called in the father’s 39 year old roommate and proceeded to shoot him in the head and chest. The boy’s father taught the killer how to use the gun to kill prairie dogs. At the end of the day the boy had graduated to taking human life and a psychologist said the boy action was an immature impulse and he might not understand the finality of death. Did this kid really think the prairie dogs came back to life only to be shot again?

On February 15th a 16 year old boy shot and killed a 29 year old man taking his life in a dark Harrisburg PA alley which police described as an “open-air drug market” as opposed to the closed air drug market in the local CVS or Rite-Aid where millions of Americans can satiate their addiction to pharmaceutical drugs. Basically the cops said that if someone is involved with purchasing drugs at 2:30 in the morning you have a 50/50 chance of being shot.

Meanwhile on February 20 an 11 year old boy in Wampum PA used a 20 gauge shotgun designed specifically for children and purchased for him by his father acted out his jealousy on his 8 month pregnant 26 year old step-mother by blowing her brains out. Afterwards he boarded the school bus much like any other day and went to school - TGIF. The boy’s lawyer said he didn’t think his client didn’t think he knew the boy knew what was going on. Really???

You might think this post is another rant against those lunatics who claim we all have a right to bear arms under the Second Amendment. I’ll continue to refer to these gun nut guardians of “the American way” as “lunatics” because until they exercise their right to bear arms solely for the purpose of protecting the other freedoms guaranteed in the Constitution then no such right exists and frankly the “lunatics” haven’t proven they are willing to do that. Besides, since the state has a monopoly on the means of violence what’s the point of owning a gun if not to kill someone for whatever reason or excuse?

Yet this article isn’t limited to children killing people with guns for nearly five years ago a 21 year old local boy killed his father with an axe and brutally beat his mother. During the trial the prosecution claimed the mother nodded in the affirmative that it was young son that killed her husband and this evidence was damning to the defense. The boy’s lawyer who no doubt is now being paid quite handsomely by the mother has filed an appeal challenging the mother’s previous acknowledgement because after all what mother would send her own son to jail for 50 years to life.

No, this article has more to do with slick, sleazy lawyers out to make a quick buck than boys being boys in a sick society which afflicts this country because oddly enough the only boy who doesn’t have an attorney is the 16 year old involved in a drug deal gone bad. What are the odds that he is also the only boy whose skin pigmentation is darker than the others and besides he was into drugs while the others were only mentally unstable or in the case of the local 21 year old boy conditioned by greed and avarice something most lawyers understand all too easily.
